The holder of the Zane Chair in History Teaching, awarded to recognize and promote excellence in history teaching, I am the current head of the History & Social Science Department and Assistant Dean of Faculty at St. George’s School, an independent secondary boarding school located in Middletown, RI. My teaching responsibilities have included survey courses in American Studies, AP/Advanced U.S. History, AP/Advanced U.S. Government & Politics, Asian Civilizations, and Modern World History, as well as trimester elective offerings related to specific eras and themes of U.S. History.

As a secondary school teacher, I hope to inspire students to study history in order to become informed, active, and critically engaged citizens in their communities¬†at home and abroad. Further, I seek to promote a wide array of historical thinking skills that will serve students well beyond their high school years and far outside of the traditional classroom setting. Outside of my teaching responsibilities, I also serve as an assistant coach for the school’s football and boys’ varsity hockey programs.
